Before proceeding with the instructions below, please make sure that you have read and understood the following articles:
Because it is expected that the majority of INX peers will be from the African region, we limit this tutorial to using the my.afrinic.net member portal. Similar tutorials are available at other regional internet registries for using their systems.
What you will need before you start
Log into the My Afrinic Portal https://my.afrinic.net/login with your nic-hdl
Click on Resources > IRR
Select AS-SET from the left and it will present you with “ADD AS-SET”
Once you click “ADD AS-SET” It will present you with a form to fill in
Fill in the name of the AS-SET you would like to create. It is required that you have AS- prepending the name.
This is the name of the AS-SET you will populate peeringdb with.
Add a description for your as-set
tech-c is a drop down list of the tech contacts. Choose one
admin-c is a drop down list of the admin contacts. Choose one
The mnt-by field is also a dropdown that will populate your mnt object
Important Note: While not mandatory, it is important you do add yourself as a member of your as-set.
Click “ADD WHOIS ATTRIBUTE” it will bring up a new form.
Select “members” and click ADD. This will add a new field at the bottom of the form.
Fill in your AS-Number in the “members” field
A filled in form should look similar to the above.
Once you have entered all the information click on the OK button. This will pop up with a box where you will need to enter your Maintainer (MNT) Password.
Enter your MNT password and click OK
If the password is correct it will show the successful creation of the IRR Object. If the password is incorrect it will show an unsuccessful result.
